Well, some good news for people in San Diego County, property taxes are going down (for many of us), ever so slighly next year. Roger Showley of the U-T reported that for the first time since Prop 13 passed in 1978, that the state consumer price index has declined.
The downside? There will be hundreds of millions of dollars not collected in taxes, adding to the fiscal crisis facing the state and local governments.
Don’t go out and make any new major purchases, “… the net effect for the owner of a home assessed at $250k will be about about $7.”
